Kiln formed glass
Kiln forming glass is the process of heating glass in a kiln. Unlike hot glass, or flameworking, the artist isn't working with flame or molten glass. Kiln forming can be used to make elements for other glass creations, functional items like dishware, or purely decorative pieces.
From the ruins
Sometimes beauty comes from total ruin. This decorative plate broke apart from thermal shock and slid off the kiln shelf. With a hammer and some ingenuity it became this primitive beauty.
petroglyph ashtray
For the cigar afficianado, an ashtray with ferro gold petroglyphs.
"ash" tray
Does this need to be emptied? Black glass frit ashes mean it's never really full.
bronze & blue plate
This one's all about texture. Bronze mica details with stacked glass and coarse frit for texture.
earth
Glass paint and mica "squished" between clear glass.
Frit balls
Frit balls are little chunks of glass heated until they form a ball. Pour them into a mold and heat slightly until they stick together and then slump them into a mold and you get a fun textured glass dish.
plaid
Assemble different colors and types of glass and create a plaid effect.
sushi & sauce
Textures, color and dichroic elements create a stunning and functional sushi set.
celtic jewelry
Fusible water decals make it possible to add images to fused glass. Jewelry is just one of the many applications.
ornaments
I've created a variety or ornaments with kiln formed glass. Everything from Christmas cats to aliens.
